Manzanita dis.

The Manzanita looks like a bush with red branches. When the Manzanita's bark peels off it looks pale baige. The leaves are lime green and bowl

The Manzanita is native to California but the Manzanita grows in coastal scrubs, mountain bluffs, pine forests and the chaparral biome of western North America. They appear in Southern British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas (United States), and Mexico.

Did you know that Manzanita berries can be eaten unripe?!

Manzanita berries are very delicious if you know what to do with them. You can even eat the flowers or unripe berries! only get young flowers because they are sweeter than the old. You have to taste the flowers to find out which flowers are young. Unripe berries can make a nice cider! The ripe berries can be made into sugar or cider, but the berries might be sticky. Remove any leaves, because the leaves are extremely bitter!

shaped. The Manzanita's blooms are white and the leaves turn deeper green when the flowers bloom in winter. The Manzanita's fruit is small like cherries, and fade from red to green. As the Manzanita's stems grow, the old bark starts to peel as the stem and new bark break through it.

Chewed-up Manzanita leaves can heal sores and can dispel headaches. The leaves can help stomach problems if digested. A concoction of the leaves can heal extreme cases of cold and diarrhea problems. The cider I mentioned earlier (unripe or ripe) can stop people from complaining about their stomach.

Some other powers the Manzanita has are not too many. The leaves can have a yellowish brown dye extracted from them, and the wood is much better for fuel then normal. The boiled leaves can be used to make a yellowish red cleaning liquid. That's all the information I have, so learn some more!

Even though my plant is edible, and medicinal, eating the Manzanita's fruit is not a good idea. Only take pictures and leave footprints.
